Wellington videotaped himself saying only days before last week’s massacre in Rio de Janeiro. But what do we know about bullying?
Bullying is a physical or psychological violence, intentional and repeated, with the aim of intimidating and assaulting a fellow incapable of defending himself.

"The fight that many brothers in the past have died for and that I will die for is not exclusively because of what is known as bullying. Our fight is against cruel, cowardly people who take advantage of kindness, innocence and weakness of people unable to defend themselves."
Wellington killed himself after being injured by a police officer's bullet. The mass shooting was a tragedy in Brazil, where school shootings are rare.

The water we drink usually comes from reservoirs, lakes, or rivers. A large number of cities uses river water and dumps it back into the river. Sometimes another city downstream uses the same water. This water may be badly polluted with chemicals and pathogenic bacteria. Many different chemical treatments are necessary to make it safe and palatable.

Many communities add some form of fluorine to their water. Fluorine in concentrations of 0.7 to 1.0 ppm ( parts per million ) can significantly reduce tooth decay in children.

Smaller communities usuallym obtain water from wells, Even they have problems because sometimes the ground water is contaminated by nitrates. These nitrates come from agricultural fertilizers and from the decomposition of organic waste.

What can we do ? We can fight for clear water and convince our neighbors to do the same.Wecan demand an end to water pollution by industries and cities. And finally, we must know how to use the water of the earth because that is all the water we have.

Every year the New Year falls on the same day right?
Well, not exactly. The Chinese New Year, for example, is celebrated on the first day of the First Moon of the lunar calendar. In other words, their New Year is usually celebrated between January 21st and February 19th.
Tradition and rituals are involved in the Chinese New Year. One of them says that Zaowang was the Kitchen God. He invented fire, cared for the house morals, and protect the family home. Tradition says that Zaowang left the house on the 23rd day of the last month of the year. He went to heaven to report on the behavior of the family.
The family, of course, did everything possible to obtain a favorable report from the Kitchen God. They prepared good food, gave presents to the children, gathered the fmaily, and reconciled with the neighbors. The festivities lasted 15 days and ended with Festival of the Lanterns to wish happiness for everybody.
Traditions and cultures may be different in China and around the world now.  But, at least onde a year, all human beings wish peace and happiness to the rest of mankind.
So, "Gung hoy fat choy"which, by the way, means "Best wishes and congratulations. Have a prosperous and good year".

WHAT ARE STEM CELLS?

Stem cells are the master cells" of the human body that have the potential to develop into almost any type of cell.
They can be obtained in laboratories, and, in theory, can morph into nerve tissue blood, heart muscle and even brain cells. Researchers demonstrated for example that bone marrow cells can become liver cells.
Cells can be implanted into our bodies to repair the demage caused by illnesses like heart diseases, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, and many others.
In the future, stem cells are going to grow into complete organs like the kidneys, the liver, etc.

WHERE DO THEY COME FROM?

True stem cells come from human embryos, but they can also be found in adult tissue.

 THE ETHICAL ISSUE

The problem begins when the scientists remove the cells from the embryos. When they do that, they destroy the embryo.
Pro-Life groups argue that this is immoral because when an embryo is destroyed a life is destroyed.
Scientists and researchers, however, emphasize the importance of the stem cell research. They say it is going to help millions of people.

Burning of fossil fuels and elimination of trees increase carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere.
The Earth's surface radiates heat. Some escapes, but the CO2 traps the rest, increasing the temperature.
The warming increases water vapor in the air, which in turn absorbs more of the earth's heat.
Rising surface temperatures melt snow and ice. A poor reflector, the exposed ground absorbs more sunlight, and in turn melts more snow.

Cows are walking machines. They transform materials ( grass, hay, and feed) into finished products ( milk, beef, leather and so on).
As any factory, cows produce wast. Solid wast is eliminated through the rear end of these "Complexe machines" and is used as fertilizer.
The fermentation process in their four stomachs producers gas. These walking machines have two chimneys one in the front of the and, the other in the rear end. Gaseous emissious through the front and chimney are called burps. Cows burp a lot. Every minute and a half. These burps release methane gas. Methane is dangerous to the planet because it contributes to the greinhouse effect.
The world population is growing very fast. That means there are more people eating beef. Consequently, there is more catle ( ai eu naum sei se e so catle ou cattle) more walking machines producing more methane gas.

SUPERSTITION

There is evidence of superstition among ancient civilizations. But this is not something of the past. Superstition is part of our modern world, too.
Some very old beliefs are present among us today: a broken mirror, for example, means seven years of bad luck. A black cat brings you bad luck when it crosses your way. Some people never walk under a ladder because it also means bad luck. There is a very curious belief among New Yorkers: 13 is a sign of bad luck and many buildings have no thirteenth floor.
There is also a place for good luck in superstition. Some charms and beliefs are popular because they bring good luck. A horseshoe, for example, or a four-leaf clover are popular good luck charms around the world. In Brazil, it is very difficult to find a ticket of the Federal Lottery with a final 13...this is the lucky number. There is another curious belief in Brazil: three kisses on the face of a single girl bring marriage.
Superstition is certainly part of the past, present, and future life of man. For some people, it is ignorance; for others, it is an important part of their lives.
